Default Kegals Restaurant

We were there 2 weeks ago and it was awful. We ordered the mahi-mahi, which was one of their "SPECIALS". It came out looking like a SMALL perch. We asked if they had the right fish. Two others in our party had the lobster tail and said it tasted like "freezer burn". We were very disappointed.

This was the premier seafood restaurant in Lancaster back in the 70's of course there wasn't near the competition back then. 30 years later and we still have never been there because we no longer hear positive feedback.

I can't believe I've never reviewed Kegel's! I visit this restaurant every time I'm in Lancaster, without fail. It's a tradition with my mom, since she and her parents always came here for crab cakes (it's one of her fondest memories). In fact, my mother abhors seafood - she gags at the smell of it. But Kegel's is the only place on earth where she'll eat a crab cake. She doesn't even go for the deluxe ones - she has the lump meat kind. I take a picture of her eating it every time because it really is the only time she'll touch anything that has at one point lived in the sea.
I always order a fish platter here... and since I'm quite picky about fish (I need it to be a white fish and not too, um, fishy tasting), I usually have to call my father to ask him what I'd like. I think he told me to order flounder last time. Whatever it was, it was tasty, and they didn't look at me too funny when I told them I needed an obscene amount of lemons to drown it.
